the week of adventure continues!

Last week I learned how to longboard. This week I ventured out even further and floated the Provo river. Now you might be thinking at this point that floating the river isn't a big deal. However, I had a bad experience last year. I was violently thrown off my tube by my home teacher, only to have to chase after in through the rocky rapids. I got very cut up and have a scar from it. Not to mention all the extra bushes and rocks I hit along the whole way that made my legs and feet bleed even more...it wasn't something I'll cherish and remember in a positive light. I was embarrassed and vowed to never float it again.
Alas, I broke my promise today. (That's what boys do to you...) Alicia and I were walking down the Colony street and a group of guys invited us to raft the river with them. Of course we said yes! We were capsized only once (many other times we came close), and our friend Johnny got pretty badly injured by the rocky rapids (he was chasing after the paddle we lost....go johnny go!) But I somehow came out unscathed. My life vest (and Johnny) saved my life. Rafting is much more fun. You have a lot more control over not running into bushes and dying. I like not dying, and being far from near-death experiences.
I wish I had pictures to show you, but my camera isn't as waterproof as I am.

Yesterday Alicia, I, and our friend Leesa hiked Stewart Falls. It was beautiful. Tomorrow I start work. :)

of course rafting isn't as dangerous. you can steer yourself away from the rocks and its a lot more difficult to tip over. I am glad you guys are having fun!!!

So, I am glad you conquered your fears! I on the other hand had white water rafted the Rogue River in Oregon and about died. Literally. I fell out of the raft and it ended up on top of me, where I was trapped underneath... needless to say I had about 3 football players trying to pull me out of the water. I have never done it again... maybe someday. Maybe not. So KUDOS to you!

I loved rafting the Provo River! I'm so glad you're getting to know people and enjoying your summer! As fas as overcoming fears and tackling new adventures...keep it up! You'll be surprised to look back and see how much you've grown from the experiences.
